Nirvana started in the town of Aberdeen, Washington, the place where Kurt Cobain was born. Even when he a young kid he liked music a lot. When he was two years old he made made his fist song with his. Kurt was very energetic and since he was so energetic he went on a sucker free diet. Whenever Kurt did something wrong he Blamed it on “Boddah” (Kurt’s imaginary friend). Boddah is mentioned in Kurt’s journals. When Kurt was about 16 years old he met Krist Novoselic at an audition for a band known as The Melvins. Kurt wanted to enter the band but when he had to do an audition he had a blackout and he couldn’t play. Kurt wanted to start  a band with Krist so Kurt made a demo known as ‘The Fecal Matter Demo.’ Fecal Matter was one of Nirvana’s previous names. Why did they call the band Nirvana? Kurt decided to call the band Nirvana after a TV Show about Buddhism. Nirvana is the Buddhist word for ultimate enlightenment, bliss, oneness with the universe, or the state of non-being. Krist decided to listen to the demo after a year, and he consented to start a band with Kurt. They tried to get the band going, but the first and the second try proved fruitless. The third attempt at starting a band yielded the birth of Nirvana. The band members were Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dale Crover. The band started playing live, and their first show was a house party in 1987. After a year playing in all different kinds of places They got a contract from the record company SUB POP. They recorded the first Nirvana album for under $700. The album was titled Bleach. That was the same time Kurt started taking drugs for his stomach pains. The real work began on the Bleach tour. After one third of the tour Kurt wanted to stop because they had played 36 times in 42 days. After a little rest Kurt started to want to play again. In 1990 Nirvana was signed to another company, the David Geffen Record company. Then Kurt decided that he didn’t want Dale in the band because he wasn’t showing enough dedication. They then met Dave Grohl, and then they started working on their second album Nevermind, featuring the super-anthem for a generation, their well known song "Smells Like Teen Spirit." This album changed music of the nineties, and ultimately all of rock and roll. Nirvana was getting more and more famous and they were playing almost constantly. Nevermind goes 4 times Platinum and Kurt meets his future wife Courtney love. After a little time they got married and there daughter Frances were born. In 1992 Kurt’s use of drugs appeared in the media, but Kurt denied every thing because he knew that he was a major influence to many kids.
In 1992 Nirvana’s third album came out, Insecticide. It was an album made of leftovers from there older two albums. Kurt’s drug use was getting to be more and more serious, and on the second of May Courtney called the police to report that Kurt had taken a large dose of heroin. Then the police broke into the room Kurt had barricaded him self in and took his 4 handguns. In September 1993 their 4th album came out, In Utero. This album was one of the most personal albums for Kurt. Kurt’s daughter Frances’s birth influenced Kurt’s lyrics. When Nirvana went on their In Utero tour they asked Pat Smear to join their band, and that was the beginning of a new sound on their tours. In 1993 Nirvana played a MTV Unplugged session. The decoration of the shows was very dark because Kurt had wanted it to look like a funeral. This show became a big success and MTV played the show very often. On the 6 of March, while Nirvana was touring in Rome, Kurt fell into a coma; he had taken 50 doses of a valium-like drug. The media was told that it was an accident, but it was Kurt’s first attempt to kill himself. Kurt’s friends and his band wanted him to enter a drug rehab center. Kurt also wanted to enter but at the last minute backed out. Later he decided to enter a drug rehab center, but he broke out 2 days later. Kurt’s mother filed a missing person report. On the fifth of April Kurt decided take his life and wrote a suicide note. Then he overdosed on heroin and then shot himself in the head there are some rumors that he was murdered nobody knows for sure. He was only 27 years old. Three days later, an electrician came to Kurt’s house to install a security system when nobody was answering he went in and found Kurt’s body. Kurt was cremated the same day and his ashes were sprinkled in the river called the Wishkah. This was the end of Nirvana and a big emotional shock for all the fans. Dave and Krist decided to enter other bands, and after a few years 3 new Nirvana albums came out (The renowned unplugged show, From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah and a greatest hits album.) Nirvana ended, but lives on in all the fans.
